This guest bathroom has limited storage, with only one cabinet under the sink. I needed a functional, yet pretty way to add more space. I came across this wire hanging basket at HomeGoods and knew it would look great! The decorative towels add a pretty pattern to the room and it’s nice to have them accessible to our guests.

Bathroom Storage Finding a home for all of your stuff can be tricky, especially in an area like the bathroom. For most of us it’s the smallest room in the house yet also one of the most used. Extra towels, bath supplies, hair and beauty products and spare toilet paper can all overwhelm this limited area and fill up a vanity if not organized correctly. The need for storage is amplified if your bathroom does double-duty as a laundry room. Don’t let the mess overwhelm you. Keep control of the clutter and call on your sense of style with bathroom storage options from Pottery Barn. If you have the space, a floor storage option like a hutch or cabinet keeps things clear and organized. Stash towels and bathroom accessories out of sight in a hutch with drawers, or opt for baskets on a ladder display. If extra room is at a premium, opt for a compact end table that fits discreetly next to the toilet or beside the sink. There are even minimalist designs that let you display baskets on a ladder shelf over the toilet, taking up very little room while still holding the necessities. If you feel like your bathroom needs a complete overhaul, try arranging your items in a floor storage unit. Once you’re able to organize while simultaneously enhancing your decor, you might realize your bathroom is more functional than you thought. Bathroom cabinets have come a long way since the over-the-sink varieties. Now medicine cabinets are both functional and stunning. If you’re truly short on space, choose a recessed medicine cabinet, which provides storage shelves without overwhelming the wall. Or, for a traditional look, pick a wall-mounted cabinet with a solid wood frame and a beveled mirror. And don’t limit yourself to the idea that bathroom cabinets belong over a sink. Many options now fit on any available space, giving you the chance to dress up the empty wall like never before. Display baskets on a wall cabinet for a look that is clean and cozy. If that’s not your style, opt for the open shelves so you can showcase your favorite knick-knacks while holding extra washcloths or accessories. For double-duty, choose a wall storage unit that offers both mirrored cabinets and display shelves. With the selection available, you have plenty of cabinet choices that fit your sense of decor and give you a place to stash your stuff. Laundry seems like a never-ending cycle, and you’re willing to do what it takes to get a handle on the situation. Stop the endless cycle of dirty clothes on the floor and put a hamper in the bathroom. This gives your family a central place to deposit those items in need of a wash. A hamper not only makes for tidy bedrooms, but it also makes laundry day a whole lot easier. Just because the hamper houses dirty laundry doesn’t mean it has to look unsightly. These hampers are stylish enough that one would never suspect what’s going on underneath the lid. If your home combines the laundry room and bathroom in one space, you’ll need more than just a hamper to keep the clothes under control. When your washer and dryer are in the bathroom, organization is key to staying on top of things. Store all of the important items with a laundry set that keeps things off the floor and on the wall. Use a peg rail system to hang an ironing board, drying rack and even clean laundry. This system not only makes laundry easier, but it also doubles as bathroom storage with shelves for soap or other necessities. Even if you don’t keep the laundry in the bathroom, it is still helpful to have the necessities like the iron and ironing board handy. Choose a simple rack system to keep these items close by and ready-to-use. While we can’t guarantee you’ll never have wrinkles again, keeping yourself organized is one way to keep yourself looking – and feeling – a little more put together. Read More

An extra seat in the bathroom is always welcome, even though moist conditions may limit appropriate options. Try draping a wooden folding chair with a thick cotton-terry slipcover, and suddenly you have an inviting perch for a manicure, a blow-dry, or bathroom accessories.

How do I determine my bathroom layout?Bathrooms can be tricky to layout, especially when they’re tight on space. If your family doesn’t take many baths, don’t feel the need to include a bathtub; you can use that extra space for a double vanity or large storage cabinet instead. On the other hand, some future buyers might want a tub, so be sure there’s at least one in the house. Walk-in showers are also one of the more popular bathroom ideas, though they take up space, while bathtub and shower combos are the best of both worlds. If you have a large family, you might want to separate the toilet and shower from the sink so multiple people can get ready at once. Ultimately, what is practical for your family will probably also be practical for future buyers, so go with what works for you first and foremost. Also, be aware of the National Kitchen and Bath Association planning guidelines so that you and your contractor can plan a safe and functional bathroom layout that meets proper code compliance. How can I add more bathroom storage?Vanities are getting bigger and bigger every year, and for good reason — bathroom storage is in constant demand. Because of this, think about ways that you can add more to your space. A lot of successful bathroom ideas feature an oversized or double vanity, while wall-mounted cabinets and medicine cabinets are helpful too. If space is at a minimum, recessed or built-in designs can help save precious elbow room while adding enough spots to stash your toiletries. Organization is key to space-saving bathrooms, so within any cabinets or shelving you add, incorporate drawer organizers, trays and bins to keep smaller accessories in check. As you look through bathroom pictures, try to keep an eye out for how each one incorporates storage into its design; you’re better off with too much than not enough! What materials should I use in my bathroom design?Because the layout and storage options are pretty standard, picking interesting materials is key for helping any bathroom remodeling project stand out. Tile offers a wide variety of colors and styles, which makes it a popular flooring choice, while mosaic tiles are common in showers. The grout can be challenging to clean though, so stone or granite might be better shower alternatives. Just like in a kitchen, implementing a fun tile backsplash or countertop color can help liven up otherwise dull bathrooms. And last but not least, don’t forget the hardware! Cabinet pulls, shower heads and faucets come in a variety of finishes, which allows you to add bits and pieces of personality into bathroom designs of all styles. How do I decorate my bathroom? No remodel is complete until the finishing touches have been added — in this case, the bathroom decor. In this particular room, the term decor can be used rather loosely; even a toilet paper holder can add to the style of the space if chosen correctly. Pick fixtures with finishes that reflect the look you are trying to achieve, and match or coordinate soap dispensers, toothbrush holders and wastebaskets for a cohesive feel. If you’re lucky enough to have extra counter or wall space, add some artwork or a decorative vase with fresh flowers. For those that aren’t looking to do a full renovation, smaller scale bathroom design ideas can be achieved by simply swapping out some of your old accessories and changing the color scheme with new linens or paint. Don’t be afraid to combine similar yet different bathroom decorating ideas to create a look that’s completely unique to your home. For kids bathroom design, consider bright colors and unique patterns, but also keep in mind that children do outgrow trends pretty quickly, so steer clear of fads. Safety is of the utmost importance in a kid’s bathroom, so make sure you have things like tub mats, faucet covers and a cover clamp for your toilet (depending on age). Plenty of bathroom remodeling ideas accommodate both children and adults in the design, so go ahead and have a little fun with yours!

Bathroom Wall Shelves With bathroom wall shelves from Pottery Barn, you can turn your lavatory or master bath into one of the most comfortable spots in your house. If you just want to create a functional space for taking care of yourself, our wall shelves also make a great storage solution for all of your toiletries and bathroom accessories. Glass and metal rack wall shelves give your bathroom a clean and sterile look, important for showing your high standards to guests. Wall shelves with cabinets and extra storage options allow you space to store all of your bath time essentials, such as bath towels and robes. Go with one consistent look or mix and match to create something unique in your home. We also have wood shelves that give your bathroom a rustic, timeless look, perfect for the man who still shaves with a straight razor. When you purchase glass shelves from us, you receive tempered glass which is stronger than normal glass and resists breaking. Glass shelves have round corners too, making them safe as well as inviting. The structure of the shelves features a strong brass material that is plated to help resist rusting in the humid bathroom. We offer glass shelves that coordinate with a number of our design collections, giving you a uniform bathroom. A single-tier glass shelf is perfect for placing above your toilet to keep rolls of toilet paper and potpourri, or you can place them next to the vanity for quick access to a cosmetic bag. Line up many single-tier glass shelves next to each other for a long shelf that gives your bathroom a dramatic effect. You can also choose a multi-tier shelf that holds similar countertop accessories together for easy organization. If you want the strong look of metal in your bathroom, check out our train racks made of aluminum. Not only are train racks great for holding all of your bathroom essentials, but you can also dry bath towels quickly on them because of the many bars in between as well as the dedicated towel racks underneath. The aluminum features a protective lacquer that helps to resist rust, leaving you with a beautiful metallic finish throughout the years. For the family bathroom, consider a wall shelf that lets you store many towels, robes, toiletries and other necessities without taking up too much space. The Newport wall cabinet made of solid birch and painted white, features dividers to create up to six cubby holes for each member of the family. If someone moves out of the house – or when another family member is added – readjust the cabinet for the total of your clan. For something even more elegant, the Matilda wall cabinet features an exposed cabinet on the bottom and a closed cabinet on top with a beveled mirror for making sure your look is just as you want it before walking out the door. Turning your bathroom into a fancy barber shop is as easy as installing wood mirror shelves. Install one shelf lower on the wall to hold shave butters and straight razors while holding aftershave and cologne on top for the ultimate in relaxation. Monogram these shelves to turn a man’s bathroom into his own sanctuary. Of course, traditional wooden shelves also do the trick, and they come painted in a material that helps resist moisture, allowing for less maintenance over the years. To take all of the guesswork out of your bathroom wall shelf needs, go with the Gabriella laundry set. This kit comes with racks for towels and clothes, pegs to hold robes and cabinets for all of your bathroom essentials. You can even get a canvas hamper that comes monogrammed for your own personal bathroom. Read More

Quality just OKRating: The vanity size is great for a small bathroom. Very stylish looking. Only problem is the vanity came in damaged. Veneer was cracked along the side onto the back. Box was really beat up. With all the staples it took forever just to open the box, then to find it damaged was very disappointing. We just didn't want to take all the time to repackage and send back. Fortunately the crack was on the side of the cabinet going against the wall, so we covered it with black silicone and that worked pretty well. Overstock Customer service was great to work with. They gave us a discount if we wanted to keep it. The vanity is just “ok” quality. Think the price is a little high, but overall has a nice clean look to it. Still waiting for contractors to install, hope it installs easily, will know this week.show more
